Hardships do not hold me back

| After receiving a good Christmas suggestion from Kage, Jubilee had used a spare moment at the Ghost Buster office to head down to the lab to see Egon. Her idea needed his contributions on the scientific basis, to make sure that it could work and that it was possible to make. And with the best intentions, she went down to the lab to see if she could make sense of one of the most scientific Ghost Busters of the group. And for a while... she and him worked on the idea together. Trying to make it happen. But after the first half-hour, Egon started to get all scientific on her and everything was going over her head.
And it take some of her power to work on the project, so that combined with the frustrating scientific ideas being discussed, was starting to wear her thing. But it was for a Christmas present. And it was for Ethan. So she continued to hold strong, until they came to a place where they had to stop and continue the project another day.
With night falling, she retired to her apartment, placed a casserole in the oven for supper, filled Tobin's puppy dish with food, and then headed to the jacuzzi tub in her bathroom. Once the water was running, she added lavender scents and bath oils, slipped out of her cloths and into the awaiting tub. Turning off the taps, she pressed a button for the jets to start and other to dim the main lights and signal the smaller lights of the tub to come on (which gave the illusion of candle-lights without the mess and fuss of wicks or spillage). Leaning back into the water, she gave a contented sigh. Today had been productive. And while it had tested her patience for one of the few things she had difficulty with (that being science), she was still able to ensure her creativity and her ideas went into the project that would soon sit under the Christmas tree for Ethan. | comments: Leave a comment   |
| Things have definitely improved in Jubilee's life.
At work, Peter has been laying off the rude comments and the unflattering looks, which has made getting Ghost Buster paperwork much easier to accomplish. Harvey was gone, which also made things a little quieter around the office and there was no more worries that 'Two-Face' would resort to violence just because his coin told him to.
Jubilee also had been expanding her career opportunities, by applying to be a body guard for the Mayor. It was something that she could do during nights, when there was no need for paperwork at the Ghost Buster fire hall. It was also something she could use her special abilities, including her mutation, to help defend the Mayor from attack.
At home, Jubilee, Ethan and Tobin (the puppy) had moved in together. It was easy to add another room to the Nexus apartments and Ethan had arranged so Ghost Buster emergencies would be sounded through his PINpoint.
Socially, she had not had the opportunity to visit with Ali, or check with how the twins were doing, because of the demands of work. On the mun, as well as the puppet. Nor had any other visits to other Nexus friends been able to take place. So there was still one part of her life that Jubilee needed to find a balance with - between her work commitments and finding time to visit with the friends who were closest to her heart.
But right now, things were good. And she knew that things would work out in the long run, she just needed to give it time. | | comments: Leave a comment |
| Work has been relatively slow (mostly paperwork), and life kept rolling the same as it always did. For a change from the usual, Jubilee had brought a chance of outfit and a makeup bag to work. And then when her shift was done, she used the washroom to change into a form-fitting dress, apply a little color to her eyes and lips, paint up her nails and basically get all dolled up. It felt like a good night to go out dancing, so Jubilee planned to find a club in this dimension, and just enjoy herself for a night.
Before she left the fire hall, there were a few more details to iron out, so she stopped to ensure that the files were properly placed in her cabinet.
A low fox whistle caught her attention, she turned in hoping it would Ethan, but instead it was Peter. Not quite the attention she was hoping to get, and judging from that smirk on his face - he knew it too.
"Hoping to impress Sparky?" He lightly challenged her.
Jubilee just shrugged, grabbing her purse from the counter top. "I do not need to impress Ethan with fancy clothing or make-up. He is already impressed."
"If you say so... seems to me a guy who was impressed would make some sort of stronger commitment to a lovely woman like yourself."
"You are one to talk about commitment, Peter. I have heard stories, and know where you stand on that issue," Jubilee replied. Crossing her arms, fingers lightly tapping on the bracelets of the other arm. | Every now and then, Jubilee will go through her closet and sort through the clothing she doesn't wear anymore and donate those items to a charity. After all, she is blessed enough to be able to buy new clothes whenever she wants, and she remembers what it was like to live on the street. So, she will give what she can - whenever she can.
Whenever she does one of these cleanings, she always comes to a part of her closest with particular outfits that are hard to part with. Even though there are some items in that section that she has not worn in ages. There is her X-Men uniform, the white and golden body suit (Wondra suit), the yellow raincoat that was such a big part of her life, and now her ghost busters uniform.
Most of these outfits are getting dusty. It is almost a shame to see the ghost busting one go the same route, especially since the last couple of months it has been mostly paperwork duties at the office.
But no matter how many times she cleans out her closet, it is this section that continues to remain untouched. And with a gentle stroke of her fingers over the materials of these outfits, Jubilee will give a fond smile and close her closet doors. | The heat of the summer has not left yet, and each day seems a little warmer than the next. And for the most part - Jubilee is getting quite tired of paperwork. She really wants to talk to Ethan, privately for a moment.
But it seems each time they have an opportunity - he is either busy with his inventions, or with his new puppy, or there is a slight issue to deal with in regards to Harvey.
So today, after preparing a picnic on the roof of the fire hall, Jubilee returns downstairs and removes several tools from Ethan's workshop. She leaves him a note -- "You want your tools, come to the roof". | | comments: 60 comments or Leave a comment |
| Today Jubilee is sitting by her Nexus lake, looking out to the waters, and is blowing bubbles into the wind. It is her day off and she is just taking some time to relax and collect her thoughts. It had been a strange week, after Ethan had returned, and not knowing how exactly to return to the relationship they had. Nor has she been able to locate Lyle, and it is worrying that she has lost that friendship already.

| After running into Ethan into the Nexus, Jubilee and him returned to her apartment. She still had a feeling of uncertainity in her heart about where their relationship stodd. And felt it would be better to talk it out. In private.

| If there was one thing that could be said about Jubilee, she was a sucker to helping people in need in the Nexus. Even people that she just met (which was how she had many of her now close friends). And that even included people who might have a dark future ahead of them, but Jubilee was trying her hardest to give them an alternate possibility of a bright future.
Hence, she was bringing Harvey Dent (aka Two Face), to the GhostBuster fire hall for an interview. Hoping that he would make a suitable candidate as a personal lawyer for the cooperation. And it seemed that luck with her today, there was no sign of Peter (the one who would give her the most problems), and Egon and Ray seemed to have a free moment.
Giving Harvey an encouraging smile, Jubilee coughed to get the guys attention. "Egon. Ray. I would like you to meet a friend of mine. This is Harvey, and he is a skilled lawyer, and is looking for a job." | | comments: 77 comments or Leave a comment |
| Taking her shift at the Ghostbuster firehouse had been busy enough, it seemed that the ghost calls came in a little bit more than usual today. Jubilee did not know if it was because it was Independence Day or what. But a lot of the ghosts were quiet loud and energetic to catch.
She was glad to call it an end of the day and head back to her Nexus apartment for night. There were some New Yorkers out on the streets celebrating Independence Day as she left the city. It was nice to see them out celebrating. Jubilee always loved this holiday, but mostly because it also marked the day of her birth.
Reaching her apartment, Jubilee went to the bedroom, stripped out of her Ghostbuster costume and headed for the shower. After cleaning off the grime of the day (and some ghost ectosplasm) she was ready to slip into a comfortable pair of pajamas. And sit in front of the television with some movies that she had been wanting to watch.
It was a nice quiet way to mark her birthday. But she knew that she had friends out there that thought about her, and that was enough. | | comments: 7 comments or Leave a comment |
